Agama

Setiap agama utama di dunia memiliki wakil yang kukuh di Malaysia, penyokong utama setiap agama memberikan gambaran yang besar terhadap cirri-ciri setiap populasi yang pelbagai etnik. Kepelbagaian agama di Malaysia adalah pantulan terus daripada kepelbagaian bangsa yang tinggal di sini. Sungguhpun Islam adalah agama rasmi Malaysia, kebebasan agama lain adalah terjamin. Hampir semua kaum Melayu beragama Islam. Kaum Cina menerima agama ciptaan seperti Taoism (kepercayaan akan pengajaran Lao-Tze), Buddha dan pemujaan nenek moyang mereka, sungguhpun ada juga yang beragama Kristian. Walaupun agama Kristian tidak memberi impakyang besar kepada Semenanjung Malaysia, kesannya adalah lebih besar ke atas Malaysia timur, di mana kaum asli memeluk agama Kristian walaupun yang lain masih mengikuti kepercayaan tradisi mereka.

Dengan pelbagai budaya yang dilihat dapat wujud dalam keadaan yang harmoni, Malaysia dengan megahnya dapat menyambut perayaan-perayaan yang tidak terbilang sepanjang tahun. Perayaan-perayaan utama adalah Aidilfitri (Eid-ur-Fitr), Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Christmas, Vasakhi, Gawai Dayak and Tadau Ka’amatan. Sepanjang perayaan-perayaan ini, rakyat Malaysia mengamalkan konsep “rumah terbuka”, sebuah acara untuk saling mengucapkan salam sejahtera. Terdapat jamuan dan aktiviti-aktiviti yang meriangkan di mana setiap yang hadir turut serta dalam keriangan majlis tersebut. Rakyat Malaysia dari semua kaum dan agama turut serta dalam perayaan-perayaan tersebut.

BATU CAVES, SELANGOR.

FEDERAL TERRITORY MOSQUE, KUALA LUMPUR.

Known as The Mosque in the Garden because of its setting in the centre of a lush garden with a moat around it with a fusion of Malay and Ottoman architectural styles from the 16th century.

KEK LOK SI TEMPLE, PULAU PINANG.

Built in 1890, this is the biggest temple for Buddhism in Malaysia with a seven-storey pagoda as well as a bronze statue of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy.

CHIN SWEE CAVES TEMPLE, PAHANG.

CHRIST CHURCH, MELAKA.

The oldest operating Protestant church in the nation, an 18th-century Anglican church is home to various interesting items, including Portuguese tombstones on the floor.

ST MICHAEL’S & ALL ANGELS CHURCH, SABAH.

St. Michael and All Angels' Church is the oldest stone structure in Sabah that has survived significant damage from World War II, and it is situated in the centre of Sandakan.

SRI MAHAMARIAMMAN TEMPLE, KUALA LUMPUR.
